This week we’re not going to be recommending products. You are. Any regular customer of Master of Malt (hello, our favourites) will know that when you purchase a product on our site you get a chance to review it. Your feedback is always welcome, particularly since we have a function to filter products by their star rating.
Naturally, if a bottle has a significant number of five-star reviews, that’s a good sign. These particular products which feature in this week’s round-up have tens, sometimes hundreds of reviews and still average at five stars. So we thought you’d appreciate knowing which ones they are. Each listing has the number of reviews it has received (at the time of writing), a note about what it is, and a testimony from one of you!

Bottling note: A blended whisky launched by Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser on the hit sci-fi TV show Outlander), this Scotch is almost certainly benefitting from some fandom boosts to its ratings but it’s also a genuinely fine whisky that many people enjoy.

Bottling note: Martell creating this VS Cognac with spirits distilled exclusively at one distiller, rather than using eaux-de-vie from a selection of Cognac-based distilleries, led to a richer, more intense style that enthusiasts really appreciate.
What you say: “A rich smooth Cognac. I bought this as I fancied a change from my usual rum or whisky. This is fantastic value, the taste is deep, rich and smooth, no mixer required just an ice cube or two.” – Jim, United Kingdom.

Bottling note: A 100% agave reposado Tequila from Pancho Datos, it was rested for six months in white oak barrels previously used to mature bourbon whiskey. Expect plenty of vanilla and caramel notes here, imparted by the cask, as well as earthy agave spiciness running through.
What you say: “Amazing Tequila – just buy it! One of the best Reposado Tequilas that I’ve tried! I’m a big tequila fan and Pancho Datos is one of my favourite that I’ve found. Their Reposado is so smooth and rounded and works perfectly in a Margarita. Couldn’t recommend highly enough!” – Rosie, United Kingdom.

Bottling note: Martins de Sá White Port may not carry the same deep, brooding reds of more classic Port types, but that doesn’t stop it from delighting in citrusy, rich, white grape. Reveals itself best when served with tonic and crushed ice.
What you say: “Never Disappoints. My go-to White Port. Perfectly balanced and with an incredible aroma.” – Master of Malt Customer

Bottling note: A deliciously flavoured mezcal from Dangerous Don, made using 100% Espadin agave which has been distilled twice and then steeped in Naom Quie coffee beans before being distilled once more. A fine alternative to the discontinued Patrón Xo Cafe.
What you say: “Unbelievable. If I was going to drink one alcoholic drink for the rest of my life, this would be it”. – Master of Malt Customer.

Bottling note: A golden bottle of spiced rum, inside and out, Bullion Rum might seem like a gimmick with its glittering aesthetic, but taste the liquid before you judge. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
What you say: “Unparalleled spiced rum in the flavour category. I recently had the pleasure of trying Bullion Spiced Rum, and it blew my mind. The unique blend of spices creates a flavour that’s truly unparalleled in the rum flavour world. It’s smooth and sophisticated, with just the right amount of sweetness. If you’re looking for a standout spirit, Bullion is it”. – Master of Malt Customer.

Bottling note: Made with a combination of aged rums from Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, alongside a secret recipe of spices, Sly Dog isn’t intensely sweet or overwhelmingly spicy – instead, it strikes a fantastic balance that our customers love.
