Tampa, FL-based chain World of Beer Bar & Kitchen filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Aug. 2. The company blames rising costs and slower sales due to a slow pandemic recovery, according to reports.
World of Beer, which at the end of 2023 operated 42 locations, was founded in 2007 and is known for its serious craft beer selection. Each location offers about 500 beers by the can or bottle and 50 on draft.
It’s not the latest casual dining brand to file Chapter 11, however. Orlando-based Italian theme concept Buca di Beppo filed on Aug. 6, citing the same culprits as World of Beer. Tex-Mex chain Tijuana Flats, founded in 1995, filed for Chapter 11 and closed 11 restaurants in April, while the seafood giant Red Lobster filed in May after shuttering nearly 100 locations.
