Costa Cruises Celebrates All Things Beer

Italian cruise line Costa Cruises this fall announced unique new ways guests can enjoy beer on board with a diverse and international selection in its restaurants, bars and lounges. For instance, Costa Toscana, the flagship of the fleet, boasts the first floating Heineken Star Club & Bistro in the world.

Along with Heineken, the contemporary pub serves other well-known beers such as the U.K.’s Newcastle, Affligem from Belgium, California’s Lagunitas IPA and Germany’s Paulaner WeissBier. It also offers an eclectic menu of beer cocktails

For example, the Ale Sangria is made with lager, vodka, ginger syrup, sugar and nutmeg while the Frittz mixes lager, Cointreau, sparkling wine and lemon. Other beertails include the Tirini One (with lager, tequila, Red Bull and orange); the Midori Spritz (lager and Midori); the Beer Julep (lager, lime, sugar, strawberry, pineapple, cherry and Hurricane Rum); and the Heineken Spritz (lager, Aperol and orange).

What’s more, a “Sbritz” cocktail menu offers an innovative selection of Spritz-style drinks made with lager instead of sparkling wine. These include the Sbritz Hugo, with lager, Fabbri elderflower syrup and soda; the Due Soli Sbritz (lager, Fabbri bergamot syrup, Fabbri mandarin syrup and soda); the Sbritz Skiwasser (lager, Fabbri raspberry syrup, lemon juice and soda); the Ocean Blue Sbritz (lager, Falernum, Fabbri tropical blu syrup and soda); the Marendry Sbritz (lager, Marendry, Fabbri black cherry syrup and soda); the Dark Sbritz (lager, Marendry Bitter, Fabbri Gum Nero, Fabbri black cherry syrup and soda); the Sbritz Hugo Rosé (lager, Fabbri elderflower and fruits of the forest syrup and soda); and the Tropical Sbritz (lager, Fabbri passion fruit syrup, Aperol and soda).

The rest of Costa’s fleet includes bars and lounges where guests can enjoy draught and bottled beer from around the world, including non-alcoholic brews, such as Corona, Beck’s, Heineken, Heineken 00, Nastro Azzurro and Estrella. The other Costa venues, which include Ferrari Spazio Bollicine, Aperol Spritz, Campari, Frescobaldi Wine Experience, Blue Velvet and Sunset, also serve wine, Champagne and cocktails.
