Celebrated New York cocktail bar Dante has partnered with Bob Dylan’s whiskey brand Heaven’s Door Tennessee Whiskey and Searchlight Pictures to toast the release of The Complete Unknown. The new film, which stars Timothée Chalamet and chronicles Dylan’s life and career, opened in theatres on Dec. 25.
Caffe Dante’s flagship location on MacDougal Street — from which Dylan once lived across the street — began offering an exclusive cocktail called Like A Rolling Stone on Dec. 20. Inspired by the spirit of Bob Dylan and his song of the same name, “we wanted to create a drink that reflects Dylan’s raw, authentic style and his ability to blend genres, just as he blended folk, rock and blues in his music,” says Dante’s beverage training director Renato Tonelli.
A combination of bourbon and palo cortado sherry offers a rich, soulful base, while crème de mûre blackberry liqueur brings a touch of complexity and depth, echoing Dylan’s poetic lyrics, says Tonelli. Toasted oat syrup and walnut bitters add a nutty, earthy warmth, reminiscent of the grit and resilience that defines Dylan’s journey through life and music.
The cocktail is served over an ice sphere to symbolize the rolling stone and the endless evolution of Dylan’s music. “It’s a drink that’s as bold, intricate and lasting as the artist himself,” Tonelli says.
What’s more, Dante has transformed the space with themed coasters and decor inspired by the legendary musician. The Dante team will also sport custom attire from Levi’s, a sponsor of the movie for the duration of the partnership, with select pieces being sold as well.
