Welcome to Whiskies Around the World, where each month Chilled will embark on a journey across the globe to discover the delightful world of whiskey. From the lush hills of Scotland to the sun-drenched distilleries of Japan, we will explore a different whiskey every month.
Irish Whiskey: With its long, storied history and records dating back to the 12th century, Irish whiskey has become a symbol of Irish culture and craftsmanship. What sets this whiskey apart is its distinctive smoothness and subtle flavors. The key is the traditional triple distillation process, which is more common in Irish whiskey than in others. This results in a lighter, smoother spirit, which bartenders find approachable and versatile.
Today, Irish whiskey is one of the fastest-growing spirits in the world. New distilleries are opening across Ireland, producing a wide range of innovative expressions while honoring traditional practices. From the rise of craft whiskeys to the re-emergence of aging techniques like the use of sherry casks or even experimenting with beer barrels, Irish whiskey continues to evolve, proving it’s a spirit that honors the past while embracing the future.
