California producer Sonoma-Cutrer has announced their latest release, the 2024 Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc.
This is a permanent addition to Sonoma-Cutrer’s core wholesale portfolio.
Led by Director of Winemaking Cara Morrison, the Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc is meant to showcase the brand’s commitment to innovation and the evolution of its French-inspired, cool-climate portfolio rooted in Sonoma’s terroir.
“Our first Sauvignon Blanc from the Russian River Valley has garnered positive feedback in our tasting room over the years,” says Morrison. “Building on that success and the category’s growing popularity, we wanted to expand our offerings and waited for the ideal moment to introduce this new Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc.”
“The warm climate makes for a lively and balanced Sauvignon Blanc that is distinctly Californian,” Morris adds. “With no oak aging, it retains its pure fruit expression and Sonoma-Cutrer’s signature acidity.”
The 2024 growing season unfolded beautifully, the winery says, with moderate summer heat and cool nights creating ideal conditions for ripening while preserving Sonoma-Cutrer’s acidity. A brief heat spike in late September gave the cooler-climate vineyards a boost to reach peak flavor. The grapes underwent a soft pressing cycle to extract the juice and fermentation took place in cool stainless steel tanks over two to three weeks, maintaining the wine’s fruit and floral notes. After fermentation, the wine rested briefly on its lees to enhance texture before being racked and blended back into stainless steel.
Sonoma-Cutrer’s Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc is a pale lemon color with aromas of tropical flowers, pomelo, bergamot and citrus zest, the winery reports, layered with hints of lychee. On the palate, pineapple and white flower are accented by notes of basil leaf and lemongrass.
The Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc has an ABV of 13.2% and is available for purchase at retailers nationwide for a suggested retail price of $25.
From Sonoma-Cutrer this follows the release of several ’23 California Chardonnays.
