There are additives used in pretty much every major spirit category out there, and rarely do drinkers make a fuss about them. They appear in Cognac, Scotch, and some American whiskeys. Hell, some people even expect certain rums to have added sugar, spices, and flavoring agents. But for some reason, the drinking public has a bee in its bonnet about additives in tequila. How did we get here? And even more puzzling, how is it that some of the most popular tequila brands in the world are among those supposedly chock full of additives?
