This is our Top 10 Father’s Day Whiskies. Think we’ve missed a bottle? Let us know in the comments below!

Whisky for Father’s Day? Groundbreaking.

Well, it sort of is – provided you pick the right one. The classic ‘dad drink’ reputation has stuck like an old label, but whisky has never been more exciting, varied, or giftable. Whether he’s a seasoned sipper, a cocktail creator, or just the kind of dad who enjoys a good story with his dram, there’s something in this lineup for him.

Plus, we’ve got a dedicated Father’s Day page full of brilliant whisky gifts, bundles, and even a few competitions: Head this way to find it all.

Right, on with the list. Yesterday, we focused purely on Scotch. Today, we’ve broadened our horizons. Here are 10 top whiskies that prove the only thing old-fashioned about Father’s Day should be the cocktail.

Our Top 10 Father’s Day Whiskies

Bourbon 5 Year Old – Father’s Day (Master of Malt)

A bourbon literally made for dads. This is a custom blend from a host of top American distillers, focusing on a high wheat content for extra smoothness and an easy-drinking style. Every component is at least five years old, bottled up with love (and maybe a bit of smugness) by our own team. It even says it on the label: Blended by a Dad, for Dads. Way better than golf socks.

Malt & Rye & Suffolk & Goode 7 Year Old

One for the whisky-curious dad who’s bored of the same old dram. This bold, blended English rye from &Whisky combines over 51% rye with malt whiskies from top English distilleries. It’s got a name that’s fun to say out loud (go on, do it), and a flavour profile that swings between peppery spice, caramel, and biscuit. Hip flask-friendly, gatekeeper-proof, and entirely dad-approved.

McConnell’s 5 Year Old Irish Whiskey

A story worth raising a glass to. Founded in Belfast in 1776, disappeared in 1958, and now back with a vengeance. This spicy, vibrant blend has spent five years in American oak barrels and marks just the beginning of McConnell’s comeback – there’s even a new Cognac-finished expression and a working prison-turned-distillery that’s worth a visit. Bet Dad’s already Googling it.

Arlett Single Malt – Pineau des Charentes Cask Finish

From the makers of fine Cognac comes something rather unexpected – this French single malt from Tessendier Distillery. Matured in new American oak and bourbon barrels before a finishing period in first-fill Pineau des Charentes casks, it’s got mellow stone fruit, gentle spice, and an elegant edge. A great option for dads who like their whisky a little off the beaten track.

Leiper’s Fork Bottled in Bond Tennessee Whiskey

A bold, small-batch Tennessee whiskey that ticks all the right boxes. Bottled in bond, aged for five years, pot distilled, and charcoal mellowed the traditional way. Expect classic Southern flavours – chocolate, caramel, dark cherries, and spice. If Dad likes a bit of punch and provenance in his pour, this one’s calling.

Carpathian Single Malt Greek Beer Cask Finish – Greek & Cypriot Cask Collection Whisky

Romania and Greece come together over a beer here in a single malt, your dad will have plenty of questions about. But Carpathian answers everything with aplomb through the quality of its spirit. It was distilled in 2018, aged for a total of six years, beginning in American white oak bourbon casks and finishing in a single bourbon cask that previously held Greek beer.

Dà Mhìle Organic Single Malt – Tokaji Cask

This Welsh whisky took the scenic route – literally. After months of negotiations, Dà Mhìle secured precious Tokaji casks from Hungary, but had to collect them in person. The effort was worth it. Distilled in 2019 and packed with cakey spice and dried fruit notes, this single malt is a rare treat, especially for dads who appreciate a great road trip anecdote with their dram.

Lindores Abbey The Friar John Cor – Congregation Batch: Chapter 3

Ok, technically, a Scotch has snuck in. But we think your dad will appreciate the third chapter in Lindores Abbey’s tribute to the monk who started it all. This one’s anything but monastic restraint – a bold, cask-strength single malt matured in bourbon, Amontillado, and Pedro Ximénez sherry before being brought together in sherry butts. Full-bodied and complex, with rich fruit, oak, and spice. For dads who like their whisky with historical heft and modern muscle.

Chichibu On The Way 2024

Japan’s cult distillery Chichibu has outdone itself with the latest On The Way release. Made from 100% floor-malted barley and aged in a combo of bourbon, sherry, mizunara, wine, and chibidaru casks, this is a deeply complex and expressive whisky. At 54.4% ABV, it’s not messing around. If your dad has a whisky wishlist, this is probably on it.

Stork Club German Rye Malt – The Heart Cut #13

A German rye with a twist of dessert decadence. Matured in rare Napoleon oak and distilled entirely from malted rye, this single cask bottling is like Black Forest Gâteau in a glass – think chocolate, spice, and red fruit. Only 408 bottles exist, and it’s the result of years of collaboration between Heart Cut and Stork Club. One for dads who love rarity, rye, or both. By the way, the upcoming Fielden whisky from The Heart Cut is bonkers good. Keep your eyes peeled…

The Last Drop: Top 10 Father’s Day Whiskies

Whether your dad’s into experimental peat bombs, ultra-rare single casks, or just a good story in a bottle, this list delivers. It’s a world tour of whisky brilliance, from Wales to Islay, France to Tennessee, and every dram has a reason to raise a glass.
