We’re taking a quick break from our composition of wine series to reflect on two things: the current state of Pinot Noir and Bourgogne.
Fresh off tasting sessions for VinePair’s Best Pinot Noirs for 2025 list, we’ve come to the conclusion that the mecca of American Pinot Noir resides on the West Coast, but it’s not in just one spot. It’s all over from Oregon down to the area just north of Los Angeles. Even with climate change, these places all benefit from natural wind gaps, which provide cool nights regardless of the temperature during the day.
Today, Keith highlights some of his favorite West Coast regions, producers, and the elements that make them unique. Then, he recaps his recent trip to Bourgogne, or as we call it in the states, Burgundy. The trip was awash with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and César, and the wines are more than worth exploring. On this episode of “Wine 101,” Keith explains what to expect when traveling there to experience its rich wine and food culture. Tune in for more.
