One Big Beautiful Bill Act Signed Into Law

On July 4th, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act was signed into law by President Trump. Often referred to as the “Big Beautiful Bill,” this budget reconciliation law represents a significant legislative package that enacts various tax and spending policies, forming a core part of the current administration’s agenda.

Here’s a brief rundown of its key components:

Extension of 2017 Tax Cuts

New Deductions

Child Tax Credit

Seniors’ Deduction

Medicaid and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Spending Cuts

Increased Spending on Border Security, National Defense, and Fiscal Impact

199A Relief for America’s Family-Owned Businesses

While some components of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act have Americans shaking their heads, one key aspect of the legislation has several beverage alcohol organizations elated with its passing. Part of the Act includes a permanent 20% deduction for qualified business income under Section 199A.

Section 199A is a critical lifeline for America’s family-owned wine and spirits wholesalers, according to Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America, allowing them to reinvest, grow and sustain jobs in communities nationwide. The permanency of this provision ensures that wholesalers, and other pass-through businesses on Main Street, will continue to have the certainty they need to plan for the future.

“We would like to thank the U.S. House of Representatives for supporting Section 199A. This legislation gives family-owned businesses the certainty we need to reinvest, compete, and support our communities across America,” said WSWA chairwoman and president of Opici Family Distributing Dina Opici in a news release.

“This was a moment of real leadership, and we commend the House for quickly passing the OBBBA— uplifting Main Street businesses across the country by locking in Section 199A relief,” added WSWA president and CEO Francis Creighton. “For family-owned, multi-generational wine and spirits wholesalers, this means the ability to invest with confidence in their companies, employees and communities.”
