The James B. Beam Distilling Co. has introduced the annual release of Old Grand-Dad 7-Year-Old Bonded Bourbon.
Each year’s release of this high-rye Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey is produced from a single distillation season in accordance with the Bottled-In-Bond Act. This release was barreled in the spring of 2018.
On the nose of this bottling is caramel and vanilla, according to the distillery. The palate brings sweet caramel flavors with notes of charred oak and vanilla, before a finish with caramel.
First bottled in 1882, Old Grand-Dad was acquired by James B. Beam Distilling Co. in 1987. The current day “OGD” is formulated with more rye for a spicy yet still pleasantly light flavor, according to the distillery. Historically inspired by vintage releases, this fine is cut to 100 proof to reach its traditional OGD flavor and body.
This follows the recent release of Jim Beam Pineapple from the distillery.
