The Cocktail College Podcast: Planter’s Punch

The combination of rum, citrus, sugar and bitters that gave us the iconic rhyme “one of sour, two of sweet, three of strong, four of weak,” the Planter’s Punch is a cocktail that sits at the cornerstone of rum history. The customizable classic has endless variations, long evading definition and acting more as a family of rum punches.

Joining us to discuss this Angostura-spiked cocktail and nail down the elusive recipe is Christian Favier of Seahorse in Charleston. In addition to bartending at one of the city’s most exciting bars, Christian teaches on the deep ties between rum, history, and culture — making him particularly well suited for a deep-dive into a drink that’s bridged cultures and continents for over a century. It’s all right here on the “Cocktail College” podcast. Tune in for more.
