Exton, PA-based Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant is the latest chain to hit hard times and shut its doors. A Sept. 25 message to employees announced the permanent closure of all restaurant locations, effective immediately.
The internal memo, which cited ongoing financial challenges and failure to secure funding, said the company would file for bankruptcy. Iron Hill had recently closed three locations, including its Newark, NJ, flagship. A message on its website noted that the brand hopes to return in the future.
Founded in Newark, DE, in 1996 by Kevin Finn, Mark Edelson and Kevin Davies, Iron Hill as of June 2025 had operated 19 locations in DE, NJ, PA, SC, and GA. The company in 2020 opened a large, full-scale production brewery in Exton, PA, to prepare its signature craft beers for larger consumer audiences through specific retail and distribution channels in PA, NJ, and DE.
