The latest releases from The Glendronach Distillery are 30- and 40-year-old single malt Scotches.
For The Glendronach 30-Year-Old, Master Blender Rachel Barrie has blended together whisky matured in Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso, and, for the first time, Amontillado sherry casks.
“With the 30-Year-Old, we have composed a symphony from our most historic sherry cask styles,” says Barrie. “Three decades of maturation have resulted in a sublime and charming Single Malt, with generous layers of rich and complex character. It is the ultimate expression of our dedication to the art of sherry cask maturation.”
The inclusion of the Amontillado cask adds toasted hazelnut and mellow crème caramel, according to the distillery, which complements the signature notes of dark cherry, chocolate and spiced fruit from the Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso casks.
The Glendronach 40-Year-Old, 2025 Edition was composed from a small number casks, married and refined over four decades in Spanish Oak Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.
“I am honored to share this exceptionally distinctive Single Malt,” says Barrie. “At forty years old, it represents four decades of sherry cask refinement, polished by time to become the ultimate expression of The Glendronach. It is a privilege to be the custodian of such remarkable casks.”
On the nose is black cherry, stewed plum and blackberry, the distillery reports, layered sherry-soaked chocolate gateau and aromatic cafe notes. The palate brings blackcurrant and bramble compote, prune and raisin wine interwoven with cinnamon-laced chocolate espresso.
Both roll out in global markets this month.
