Good Trouble Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey just announced the launch of Trouble in Blues, a limited edition bourbon honoring 100 years of Chicago Blues.
Born in the heart of Chicago, Trouble in Blues is one of the few spirits brands to use augmented reality (AR) technology. By scanning the bottle, consumers unlock an immersive AR experience featuring legendary blues icons, according to the company.
“Most brands only focus on what’s in the bottle,” said Dee M. Robinson, founder of Good Trouble, in a news release. “We’re focused on what the bottle can inspire, since we know the bourbon is amazing. Don’t believe me; believe our awards! Forbes named Good Trouble Kentucky Straight Bourbon one of the best bourbons under $50; and won gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.”
Only 445 bottles of Trouble in Blues are being produced, according to the company, with select bottles personally signed by blues legend Buddy Guy. Proceeds will benefit the Blues Legacy Committee — an initiative spearheaded by Robinson and supported by the Mayor’s office and influential civic leaders — with Guy serving as Honorary Chairman.
The bottle also features custom artwork inspired by 1950s jazz club posters, according to the company, with an electric blue, white and metallic gold color palette and a cap embossed with the words “From One Troublemaker to Another.”
Crafted as a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Trouble in Blues is aged for over five years and bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV), according to the company. It has a mash bill of 70% corn, 21% rye and 9% malted barley, with notes of vanilla, pipe tobacco and candied pecan, followed by a palate of toffee, charred oak, cherry and a hint of black pepper.
“Chicago Blues gave the world a sound that speaks to pain, pride, perseverance and power,” said Robinson in the release. “With Trouble in Blues, we’re raising a glass to the legends who paved the way—and inviting a new generation to honor the rhythm, resistance and roots of this city. This bottle is our tribute to the sound that helped shape America.”
Trouble in Blues is available exclusively in Chicago through Maverick Distribution, according to the company.
