Green River Launches Wheated Full Proof Bourbon

Green River Distilling Co. has launched Green River Wheated Full Proof Bourbon, available in 25 markets beginning February 13. 

Green River Wheated Full Proof is comprised of its signature wheated recipe (70% corn, 21% wheat, and 9% malted barley). With a suggested retail price of $49.99, Wheated Full Proof is meant to keep to Green River’s tradition of approachability and value. 

“Wheated Full Proof is our way of giving fans a richer, more intense experience of the wheated bourbon they already love,” says Dan Callaway, Master Blender. “We kept the same mashbill and the same commitment to balance, then selected and blended barrels that truly shine at barrel strength. The result is a more robust expression that still drinks like GreenRiver.” 

Presented at a variable batch-proof ranging from 109 – 116, the initial batch is bottled at 109.3 proof (54.65% ABV). Aged for five to seven years in Green River’s clay tile warehouses, the barrels experience a naturally insulated environment that is meant to accelerate flavor development, according to the distillery.

The result is vanilla, caramelized wood sugars and a richer expression of the wheated profile, according to the distillery.

Wheated Full Proof will be available exclusively in 750-ml. and will maintain Green River’s signature horseshoe bottle and core brand architecture. Subtle design cues are meant to distinguish the new expression, including a custom copper-accented tax strip to set it apart from the core lineup. 

This follows the release of Green River Kentucky Straight Wheated Single Barrel Bourbon.
