The VinePair Podcast: Wine Isn’t Healthy. That’s OK.

Everybody knows that sugar, fast food, and red meat aren’t good for you, yet we still consume them. The same goes for alcohol.

Although the beer and spirits industries have long come to terms with this reality, wine is still attached to this unsubstantiated belief that a glass or two a day is good for your health. While we’d love to blindly jump on that bandwagon, the truth is that wine contains alcohol, and sadly, there’s no universe in which drinking alcohol correlates to a longer life.

We do things everyday that could pose a potential risk to our mortality, but that’s life. So why is wine clinging to this health halo when there’s so much more to appreciate about it?

On this episode of the “VinePair Podcast,” Adam, Joanna, and Zach discuss the wine world’s freak-out over concerns that drinkers no longer see it as the healthiest choice when drinking, and whether there’s any point in trying to discuss alcohol through that lens. Tune in for more.
