How to Make Layered Taco Dip

Making taco dip hardly gets any easier!

First, prepare a 9-inch pie plate by spraying it with nonstick cooking spray. Then heat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Next, add a little olive oil to a large skillet and heat over medium-high heat. Add your chopped onion and saute until soft, about 4-5 minutes.

Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until the meat crumbles and falls apart. Drain excess fat. Pour in the Taco Seasoning (homemade or store-bought) and water and simmer for at least 5 minutes. Set it aside to cool slightly.

Spread refried beans evenly all over the bottom of a pie plate. Then cover it completely with the taco meat.

Next, spread the sour cream on top of the beef. Top off the sour cream layer with the shredded taco cheese.

Then, bake the whole thing until the cheese is ooey-gooey and melty. It takes about 15 minutes for everything to get heated through.

Serve garnished with diced tomatoes, sliced jalapeños, and plenty of sturdy tortilla chips to dip. So good!

FAQs

How do I store leftover Hot Taco Dip?

Wrap your dish tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and store in the fridge for 2-3 days. Then you can reheat as needed in the oven or microwave.

You can also transfer your dip to an airtight container if that’s easier.

What are some other recipe variations?

Try substituting Chorizo sausage instead of hamburger, or for a lighter recipe, use ground turkey.

Use black beans for more protein to make this more filling.

Add an avocado or guacamole layer before serving this flavorful dip.

Use any of your favorite toppings like black olives, crunchy red onion or green onions, diced bell peppers, fresh cilantro, and more!

Serve with corn chips like Fritos scoops for an alternative to the classic tortilla chip.
