Virginia Distillery Opens American Custom Distilling

As the sourced whiskey industry continues to shift, Virginia Distillery Co. has opened American Custom Distilling Group, a contract distiller that offers custom distilling and spirits production services for brands, entrepreneurs and distilling partners.

American Custom Distilling offers end-to-end options for those looking to enter the industry or expand their portfolio.

Virginia Distillery Co. is the largest privately owned supplier of American Single Malt whisky, with one of the largest inventories of aged stocks in this newly designated category. Officially ratified by the TTB on January 19, 2025, this designation marks the first major update to American whisky regulations since the 1960s.

While American Custom Distilling specializes in American Single Malt, it also operates as a full-service distillery, providing production and contract services across all American spirits categories.

American Custom Distilling sits on 100 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains, with a current storage capacity of 15,000 casks, and construction plans to build three more cask houses with additional storage of 22,500 casks. The distillery has Forsythe double copper pot stills, closed top fermentation and an annual new make capacity of 400,000 proof gallons.

“Our mission is to bring our clients’ craft spirits to life with a level of care as if they were our own,” says COO Jerry Heddy. “Whether launching a new brand, diversifying your bourbon portfolio, or investing in American Single Malt, we’re here to be your reliable partner by providing custom tailored solutions, ultra high-quality spirits, and a straightforward price structure.”

This follows Virginia Distillery Co.’s release of The Brewer’s Coalition Single Malts.
