Constellation Selling Mainstream Wine Brands to The Wine Group

Beverage alcohol giant Constellation Brands on April 9 announced it has agreed to sell its primarily mainstream wine brands to The Wine Group. Brands to be divested to The Wine Group include Woodbridge, Meiomi, Robert Mondavi Private Selection, Cook’s, SIMI, and J. Rogét sparkling wine, along with associated inventory, facilities and vineyards.

Constellation will retain its higher-end wine brands, predominantly priced $15 and above. These include Robert Mondavi Winery, Schrader, Double Diamond, To Kalon Vineyard Co., Mount Veeder Winery; The Prisoner Wine Co.; the My Favorite Neighbor family of wine brands; Kim Crawford; Ruffino; Sea Smoke; Lingua Franca, and more.

The company has been trimming its wine business for several years. It sold a portion of its mainstream and premium wine portfolio to The Wine Group in 2022, after selling more than 30 wine brands to Gallo in early 2021. Constellation’s craft spirits portfolio includes High West whiskey, Nelson’s Green Brier whiskey, Mi CAMPO tequila and Casa Noble tequila; its beer lineup includes Corona, Modelo, Pacifico and Victoria.

The Wine Group, based in Livermore, CA, produces wines and alcoholic beverages across more than 120 brands. Wines in its portfolio include Cupcake, Franzia, Benziger, Imagery, Tribute, Chloe, 7 Deadly, Cooper & Thief, and more.
