BCI Named Exclusive U.S. Importer of Antique Pelinkovac

Previously established in the U.S. in 2022, Antique, a Croatian herbal liqueur, will now be fully integrated into the BCI collection of Terroir brands starting June 1st.

Jean-François Bonneté, founder and president of BCI, shared in a news release: “We are excited to welcome Badel into our family of partners in the U.S. market. Our company is doing extremely well in the bitters category right now, and we know Antique has strong potential. We intend to put it on a fast growth trajectory, as we have done with our other brands.”

Created in 1862 by Franjo Pokorny, Antique Pelinkovac was lost during WWII and reintroduced in 2012, according to BCI, using the original rediscovered recipe and a replica of its bottle. Crafted from over 40 Mediterranean herbs, with wormwood (“pelin” in Croatian) as its signature botanical, Antique is a bittersweet, aromatic liqueur, batch-made via cold maceration and copper pot distillation.

Darko Knez, owner and CEO of Badel, stated in the release: “We are very excited to start this new chapter with BCI. The company has a great track record in building successful brands via organic and thoughtful strategies, and we know that by working closely and supporting these efforts, we will create a great success in the U.S.”

BCI will begin expanding Antique’s footprint across 30 U.S. states in collaboration with its distributor partners, according to the company. The rollout includes a full marketing plan, launching July 2025, and support from a full-time U.S. National Brand Ambassador based in New York City, alongside ongoing trade and consumer events, cocktail programming and bartender education initiatives.
