Laphroaig Launches 2025 Càirdeas Lore Cask Strength

Laphroaig Single Malt Scotch Whisky has launched their 2025 Càirdeas release in the U.S. market: Lore Cask Strength.

Bottled at cask strength at 59.6% ABV, this bottle marries five casks. The casks used included single malts that aged in ex-bourbon, European oak and Oloroso sherry barrels, along with quarter casks.

Distillery-provided tasting notes as as follows:

Aroma: Sweet, herbal and peaty. A fruity expression with aromas of apricot, peaches in syrup and lemon cream, combined with a hint of coconut and a vanilla fudge sweetness. A hint of freshly mown grass and tangy basil is also present, with a slight trace of tobacco and white pepper.

Taste: Opening with peat with a salty sea spray, followed by a peppery sparkle. Notes of lemon zest, salted limes and caramel dominate, leading on to more herbal notes of fresh mint and rich tea leaves in the background. Delicate spices emerge including cumin, cloves and ginger.

Finish: Citrus sweetness and a phenolic aftertaste.

Càirdeas (Gaelic for friendship) is an annual release created with the Friends of Laphroaig members in mind, and is timed with Fèis Ìle, the festival on Islay where whisky fans around the world travel to be the first to taste the latest bottling.

2025 Laphroaig Càirdeas retails for $110 a 750-ml. bottle in the U.S.
