Despite what the powers that be might tell us, there are no hard and fast rules dictating how and when to enjoy wine. Once you buy a bottle, it’s yours, and you can drink it in any context you wish. That said, it is true that the seasons often dictate the wine styles we gravitate toward at any given time. In the summer, it’s typically rosé and high-acid, crisp white wines. In the winter, it’s usually full-bodied, cozy reds. But in the in-between period that is the fall, anything goes, making it a great season to try everything under the sun.
Now that Labor Day is behind us, we’re taking this episode to make a PSA about why this is the perfect time of year to experiment with wine. Try decanting sparkling wine. Drink chilled reds. Drink white wine at room temperature. Try some funky skin contact wines from all over the globe, and serve them in flutes, coupes, mugs, and everything in between. Ultimately, find out what you like and what you don’t. Come the new year, you’ll have gained confidence in your wine journey and know a lot more about your personal preferences. Tune in for more.
