WhistlePig, known for it’s older-age ryes, has announced the release of a 30-year-old North American Single Malt: WhistlePig 30 Single Malt – The BigShǝBàng.
WhistlePig’s single malt journey began with The Béhôlden (Aged 21 Years) in 2023, followed by The Badönkådonk (Aged 25 Years) in 2024. This year, fewer than four barrels of The BigShǝBàng are available, joined by limited annual releases of its 21- and 25-year-old counterparts.
The BigShǝBàng spent 30 years in American Oak followed by secondary aging in Vin Santo barrels, an Italian dessert wine.
“We didn’t wait for our Single Malt’s 30th birthday just to play it safe. The BigShǝBàng is a flavor supernova – radiant, otherworldly, and unlike anything we’ve ever put in a bottle,” says Meghan Ireland, Head Blender at WhistlePig. “We’ve been hunting down Vin Santo barrels for a few years now, and the stars finally aligned with a precious few to finish this inaugural release. As with many of our most elusive casks, they’ve proved to be a catalyst for complexity that’s well worth the quest.”
The BigShǝBàng has flavors of honeyed bread, wheat crust and florality on the nose, the company reports, trailed by clove, freshly kneaded dough and honeysuckle on the palate, before reaching toasted cedar and sweetness.
Each Single Barrel comes bottled at 90.4 proof.
Limited and not available online, The BigShǝBàng will be available to taste at The WhistlePig Vault in Louisville, KY this fall, plus other establishments nationally.
The three North American Single Malts are priced as follows:
The Béhôlden – Aged 21 Years: Finished in WhistlePig Rye Barrels | SRP: $899.99
The Badönkådonk – Aged 25 Years: Finished in Silver Oak Cabernet Barrels | SRP: $1,999.99
The BigShǝBàng – Aged 30 Years: Finished in Vin Santo Barrels | SRP: $4,999
Limited quantities of the 21 and 25 Year remain available online at whistlepigwhiskey.com/shop.
