Free Expungement Clinic & Community Resource Fair

On Saturday, October 4, U.S. multistate cannabis operator Ascend Wellness Holdings (AWH), through its program CO-LAB For Social Equity, will be hosting a free expungement clinic and community resource fair in Newark, NJ, presented in partnership with Blaze Responsibly and Ironbound Community Corporation.

AWH has long been committed to social equity, donating over $2.3 million to Last Prisoner Project since 2020, according to the company. Since CO-LAB’s launch in 2024, the program has helped roughly 1,000 people clear records in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and D.C., while providing wraparound services like veterans support, ID restoration, free meals and internet access, and raising nearly $300,000 in funds and merchandise proceeds.

At the event on Saturday, there will be free legal assistance with expungement filings for any eligible offense in New Jersey – not just cannabis-related. For the first time, AWH will also cover court fines for at least 50 individuals, according to the company. The resource fair will feature on-site support from Bridging the Gap, UFCW360 and Newark Housing Authority, with family-friendly activities including a gaming truck and bouncy house.

The event will take place from 11am and 3pm ET at Down Bottom Farms, located at 371-395 Ferry St, Newark, NJ 07105. All interested in attending must register for the event at www.tinyurl.com/ascendnewark.
