Aberfeldy Bottles 15 Year Old Bolgheri Red Wine Cask Finish

The latest Scotch release from Aberfeldy is their 15 Year Old Bolgheri Red Wine Cask Finish.

Malt Master Stephanie Macleod oversaw this whisky’s two-year finishing in Bolgheri red wine casks sourced from Tuscany, Italy, after the whisky had previously matured for 15 years in refill casks.

The result is an aroma of dark cherries and ripe plums, leading into flavors of dark chocolate with hints of vanilla and nutmeg, the distillery reports, while Aberfeldy’s honeyed notes provide sweetness. The whisky finishes with soft oak.

Aberfeldy 15 Year Old Bolgheri Red Wine Cask Finish is a continuation in the brand’s limited-edition wine cask finished whiskies, where previous iterations have included a Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, a Pomerol, a Bordeaux and a Rhône.

Bottled at 46% ABV, and non-chill filtered, this new release has a suggested retail price of $84.99 per 750-ml. bottle.
