New York’s WarrenPeace, which opened in 2022, is rooted in the team’s Albanian heritage. The cocktail bar and restaurant draws inspiration from the broader Balkan region, infused into a Mediterranean-leaning menu and bar program.
That’s evident in the Balkan Breakfast cocktail, a riff on a Carajillo inspired by a Balkan breakfast ritual of a raki, espresso and a cigarette. The combination symbolizes relaxation and social bonding and signals the start of new day.
The WarrenPeace team built on this concept to craft a layered, protein-forward cocktail featuring black sesame–infused raki, Licor 43, crème de banana, espresso liqueur, cold brew and a touch of tobacco bitters. The result is a rich, spiced-forward drink with a hint of sweetness.
The black sesame infusion delivers a gentle protein boost while softening the spirit and adding a toasty, textured mouthfeel. Creamy banana and espresso notes keep the cocktail both indulgent and refreshing.
Served on a saucer with a doily and accompanied by a candied cigarette, the $21 Balkan Breakfast elevates the drink experience with a memorable nod to its cultural roots.
