Monin’s Winter Flavor Trends + Recipes

Peppermint will always have its moment during the winter months, but this season, Monin is encouraging drink makers to branch out.

From unexpected flavors to indulgent, dessert-inspired sips and year-round iced drinks, winter beverages are getting a fresh update.

Here’s what Monin is highlighting this season.

Move Over, Peppermint

Classic winter flavors like peppermint, sugar cookie, and hazelnut aren’t going anywhere, but they’re no longer the only stars of the show. This winter, Monin is spotlighting flavors that feel a little more unexpected while still fitting the cozy vibe.

Think blackberry, pistachio, cranberry, sea salt caramel, brown butter, and pomegranate. These flavors add depth, richness, and just enough intrigue to everything from lattes and cocktails to sodas and mocktails.

Indulgence Is In

Winter is the season of comfort, celebrations, and treating yourself — and beverages are leaning fully into that energy. Monin points to drinks inspired by both classic desserts and trending treats, where cocktails and coffees feel just as indulgent as what’s on the dessert table.

Some standout examples include Dubai chocolate-inspired coffees, Christmas-style dirty sodas, creamy coconut margaritas, warm espresso martinis, crème brûlée shakes, and gingerbread martinis. Rich, cozy, and unapologetically indulgent is the vibe.

Iced Isn’t Going Anywhere

Even as temperatures drop, iced drinks are holding strong. With matcha, energy refreshers, and iced coffee continuing to rise in popularity, Monin notes that chilled beverages are becoming an everyday choice, not just a summer one.

Winter-ready iced options include creamy iced lattes, winter margaritas, gingerbread berry sparklers, and chilled brambleberry martinis, proving that cold drinks can still feel seasonal.

Booze… and No Booze

The sober-curious movement isn’t slowing down, even during the holidays. While many people are enjoying festive cocktails, others are dialing things back or planning ahead for Dry January.

Monin recommends embracing both, with fruity and spiced dirty sodas, non-alcoholic steamers, spiked frozen coffees, and warm, comforting cocktails all coexisting on winter menus. It’s all about flexibility — and giving everyone something to sip on.
