In honor of Women’s History Month, The St. Regis San Francisco has unveiled a special “Cocktails of Empowerment” menu, a trio of drink created to spotlight the women shaping the world of fine spirits. Each cocktail celebrates a trailblazing female producer whose talent, leadership and legacy elevate their craft.
Lorena Vasquez, the Master Blender for Ron Zacapa rum, contributed a cocktail with Ron Zacapa 23 Year rum, house-made winter spice syrup, chocolate and orange bitters. As one of the few female master blenders in spirits, Vasquez has led Zacapa for over 37 years.
Isabel Santiago, Maestra Mezcalera for Zomoz Mezcal, is a fourth-generation producer at her organic agave plantation and Palenque in Santiago Mazatlán, Oaxaca, and one of the two Maestra Mezcaleras in Mazatlán. Her specialty cocktail mixes Zomoz organic mezcal, egg white, peach liqueur and lime.
Bertha Gonzalez Nieves, founder/CEO of Casa Dragones Tequila, is the first woman to be certified as a Maestra Tequilera and widely celebrated as a pioneer in the industry for her leadership and innovation. Her cocktail features Casa Dragones Blanco tequila, house-made wild Himalayan tea syrup and lime juice.
Priced at $28 each, the Cocktails of Empowerment are available at The St. Regis bar throughout the month of March. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Les Dames d ’Escoffier San Francisco Chapter scholarship fund — fostering the advancement of women in the culinary and beverage arts.
