Woody Creek Distillers and the brand’s spokesdude, Oscar-nominated and two-time Emmy Award-winning actor William H. Macy just released Woody Creek William H. Macy Reserve Rye Third Edition. Beginning May 15, the limited release whiskey will be available at select retail outlets and on back bars as well as through Woody Creek’s direct-to-consumer channel at woodycreekdistillers.com.
Chosen in a blind tasting led by William H. Macy and head of distillation Stephen Julander, along with Woody Creek co-founders Mary and Pat Scanlan and bar industry luminary Sean Kenyon, the five-barrel blend was selected for its balance, depth and character, according to the distillery.
Woody Creek William H. Macy Reserve Rye Third Edition has a mashbill of 83% elbon rye, 14% dent corn and 3% malted barley. Aged for 10 years and coming in at 50% ABV (100 proof), tasting notes include butterscotch, lavender, citrus and spice, according to distillery notes, alongside rye, pecan, molasses, tea and coffee. A limited number of cases will be available for SRP $199.99/750ml bottle.
“I’m a rye whiskey guy; always have been. For me, that’s America’s drink,” said William H. Macy in a news release. “And in all sincerity, I think Woody Creek makes the best spirits around. We don’t do everything, but what we lean into, we do as well as anyone in the business. I hope everybody enjoys this liquid.”
