Three Riffs On The Honey Deuce Cocktail

The U.S. Open has started, and fans are flocking to Queens to watch tennis and enjoy a signature drink such as the storied Grey Goose Honey Deuce. Several New York bars are offering their own spins on the popular vodka cocktail.

For instance, Fortuna has the Dragon Fruit Honey Deuce, which is sweetened with honey and finished with a dusting of sumac flakes for a subtle Mediterranean twist. The dragon fruit gives the cocktail, priced at $17, a vivid, eye-catching pink/purple hue.

Italian restaurant Felice is serving up The Baseline at all of its New York locations. Priced at $18, the refreshing summer cocktail inspired by the Honey Deuce combines with Grey Goose vodka, fresh lime juice, agave, Chambord and fresh honeydew melon.

The Queens Tavern in Hudson Yards, opened this spring by London-based hospitality group Evolv Collection, has created a version of the Honey Deuce with a British twist. Priced at $16, the Queens Tavern Honey Deuce mixes dry vermouth, honey syrup and clear apple liqueur.

All of the Honey Deuce tribute cocktails, available throughout the tournament (Aug. 23 to Sept. 13), feature the signature melon ball garnish that looks like little tennis balls.
