Penelope Bourbon has released Cigar Sessions: Chapter 2, the second installment in its annual Cigar Sessions series, in collaboration with cigar brand Alec Bradley.
The whiskey was developed by Penelope’s blending team and Alec Bradley’s cigar blenders with the goal of pairing it with medium- to full-bodied cigars. The teams worked together during the blending process, tasting the whiskey alongside cigars and adjusting the blend based on feedback.
“Whiskey and cigars have always been an iconic pairing, built around the same appreciation for craft, patience and ritual,” said Michael Paladini, founder and vice president of strategy at Penelope Bourbon. “With Chapter 2, we wanted to take that classic pairing a step further by bringing the people behind both to the table. The goal was to create a whiskey purpose-built for a smoke, and the Alec Bradley team brought the same obsession with craft that we bring to blending whiskey.”
Cigar Sessions: Chapter 2 comes bottled at 117.4 proof and aged for six years. The mash bill consists of 69% corn, 19% rye and 12% malt.
“A full-bodied cigar needs a whiskey that won’t back down from it,” said Alec Rubin, brand manager of strategic partnerships at Alec Bradley. “Working with Penelope’s blending team from the start let us build something bold without either one overpowering the other.”
The release has a suggested retail price of $79.99 and is available at select retailers nationwide while supplies last.
The partnership also connects the brands through their names. Penelope Bourbon takes its name from Michael Paladini’s daughter, while Alec Bradley takes its name from founder Alan Rubin’s sons, Alec and Bradley.
This follows the recent release of Penelope Bourbon Blackberry Old Fashioned.
