Let’s get ready to eat!!!
I am proud to be partnering with Ibotta to bring you this post. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.
One of my most favorite holidays is Thanksgiving.
Every year I just can’t get enough of the food.
I love it so much that the year I was pregnant with our oldest, I went back for THIRDS!!
Then Kurt told everyone we were going for a walk around the neighborhood.
With so many delicious dishes, it’s hard to pick a favorite, but a classic stuffing recipe is right up there at the top.
Yes, you can make it completely from scratch with your own bread cubes, like sourdough bread, white bread, French bread, etc. Or even make a homemade cornbread stuffing.
BUT why bother when you can make the best Thanksgiving stuffing recipe with less work by adding a few simple ingredients from your local grocery store?
It will save you time, too, which we all know is super important when planning and making a big holiday meal.
And the best part, you can turn all of this…

Preparing a large meal doesn’t have to be hard or time consuming.
Make your stuffing with a stuffing mix and add a few simple ingredients to it to make it taste like homemade.
Great Value Turkey Flavored Stuffing Mix
butter
celery
onion
chicken stock or turkey stock
fresh rosemary
fresh sage – if you cannot find fresh herbs, you can substitute 1½ teaspoons of poultry seasoning for the fresh rosemary and sage. You won’t want to add more than that as the stuffing mix is already seasoned.
salt and black pepper to taste
Prepare a 9 X 13-inch casserole dish by spraying it with cooking spray.
Melt butter in a large pot or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the celery and onions and cook for about 2-3 minutes until soft.
Gently pour in the chicken broth and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add the stuffing mix, and herbs and toss gently to coat.
Pour contents into your greased baking dish and place into a preheated 350° F oven, cover with aluminum foil, and bake for 30 minutes.
Heat broiler to low, remove tin foil, and cook for and additional 3-5 minutes, until top is golden brown and slightly crisp. You can also cook in the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes with the foil removed if you prefer not to use the broiler.
Sure can, and I highly suggest it if you want to save time.
Assemble up to 48 hours before just up to the point of putting it into the oven. Cover with tin foil, and place it into the refrigerator.
Remove it at least 30 minutes before baking and place into the oven.
If you’d like to keep it warm while dinner is being served, place into a crockpot on the warm setting.
Yes, for up to three months, even!
Place into the freezer in an airtight container, and bring to room temperature before reheating in the oven for 15 -20 minutes at 350°F.
I suggest reheating in a baking dish and covering it with tin foil.
You may also want to pour a small of amount of chicken broth over the whole thing to preventing it from drying out.
Honestly, this turkey stuffing recipe should be referred to as dressing because of the way its’ cooked.
It’s also referred to as dressing regardless in certain parts of the country, like the south.
Dressing is cooked separately from the turkey in a baking dish like a casserole.
Stuffing is cooked inside the turkey while the bird is in the oven.
People from the northeast tend to call it stuffing.
Herb Roasted Turkey – because you need a Thanksgiving turkey, of course.
Maple Roasted Sweet Potatoes or Maple Sweet Potato Casserole
Vanilla Mashed Potatoes or Cheesy Mashed Potatoes
Easy Roasted Smashed Potatoes with CHEESE or Twice Baked Potato Casserole
Strawberry Spinach Salad {with Poppy Seed Dressing}
Mashed Butternut Squash with Goat Cheese and Brown Butter
Maple Bacon Brussels Sprouts or Honey Mustard Brussels Sprouts
A Copycat Recipe – Texas Roadhouse Rolls with Easy Cinnamon Honey Butter
No Bake Pumpkin Dream Bars – I’ll take these ANY day over a slice of pumpkin pie!
This year, make a classic side dish for your Thanksgiving dinner that tastes just like a homemade stuffing recipe without all the work. Make sure there’s enough leftover stuffing for sandwiches later in the day!
