Frosted Lemonade is tasty blend of lemonade and creamy ice cream. Part lemonade, part milkshake, it’s sweet, tangy and creamy all at once! Our version of the delicious Chick-fil-A frosted lemonade tastes just like the original, only with NO added sugar! There’s no better way to beat the summer heat than with a copycat chick fil a sweet treat the entire family will love.
I need to confess something.
I’m in love with Chick-fil-A.
Like, truly madly deeply.
I cannot get enough of that place.
From the chicken sandwich to the nuggets, right down to the Chick-fil-A dipping sauce (OMGEEEEE YUMMY!!!) and waffle fries.
There’s one menu item I have to get every single time, especially in the hot summer months. And it’s not chicken. It’s their frosty lemonade. Specifically frosted lemonade.
The thick, creamy lemon milkshake is so delicious I always drink it too fast and end up with a brain freeze. Worth it.
Once I learned that the basic recipe is just simple ingredients like a lemonade mixture and ice cream, I knew I had to find out how to make Chick-fil-a Frosted Lemonade at home.
My daughter and I were taste testing multiple ice cream and lemonade combinations for our own recipe to get the taste as close to the original as possible. Yes, this means we had to spend a whole afternoon sampling milkshakes. Poor us, right?
So, here’s the combination of ingredients that produced the best results and closest taste to the original in our opinions:
Breyer’s Natural Vanilla Ice Cream
Newman’s Own Virgin Lemonade
fresh lemon juice
Lemon zest
Did you notice the best part? There’s NO added sugar like some other recipes!
Of course, you can, but I highly suggest using the brands of vanilla ice cream and lemonade that I recommend. We tested quite a few ice creams and lemonade and found that using both of these two tasted most like the one at chick fil a.
If by chance you have trouble locating one or both at your local grocery store, don’t freak out. It’s still pretty darn delicious if you use what you have available. Supposedly, Chick-fil-A uses only Sunkist brand lemons in their recipe!
Lemonade with ice cream, lemon juice, and lemon zest is one of the most refreshing drinks you can make for summer. I hope you love it as much as we do!
It seriously couldn’t be any easier to make this homemade frosted lemonade.
Combine lemonade drink, scoops of ice cream and other ingredients in a good blender and let that baby do the work.
Pour the contents into two large glasses, add a reusable straw, top with additional lemon zest and a lemon slice if you’d like and sip away!
Frosted Lemonade is a drink that blends lemonade with vanilla ice cream. The sweet vanilla and zesty citrus combine for a cold beverage with bold flavor. So yes, it IS a lemonade milkshake and it’s truly delicious!
The Chick-fil-a Frosted Lemonade is the real deal of the lemony frosty beverage, but our homemade version is every bit as incredible and doesn’t need any additional sugar.
Serve frosted lemonade as a poolside sipper, a dessert or an accompaniment to your light summer meal. It has the perfect balance of tart lemonade and sweet flavors you’ll love any time of day!
This site might have “baking” in the title, but I have another not-so-secret recipe obsession: drinks, drinks and more drinks!
The frosted lemonade recipe I share below uses store bought lemonade, because it tasted most like the one from Chick-fil-A.
For those of you who love watermelon, this Frosted Watermelon Lemonade is the perfect summer thirst quencher.
If you enjoy peaches, then this Frosted Peach Lemonade is for you! It’s based off of this lemonade milkshake recipe and one I think you’ll really love.
I made this Strawberry Lemonade to and fell in love with it. I think lemonade just tastes so much better when it’s loaded with fresh strawberries, don’t you?
Coconut Coolers are another beverage just begging to be sipped on a hammock in the shade. They remind me a little of these more traditional Mexican Horchatas only with coconut.
Dust off that blender and make a batch of Frozen Bahama Mamas, a Blue Ocean Cocktail, or some Pina Colada Milkshakes. All you need is the beach!
Or keep it simple and fill a tall glass with this Cucumber Grapefruit Water. There’s just something about drinking cool water with some cucumber in it. It makes me feel like I’m lounging at a day spa, even on a regular workday.
Some of the ways my family cools off during the summer months are with desserts!
This time of year, I especially like making treats made with lemon.
Face it, when it’s hot and humid out there, no one wants to fire up the oven. This No-Bake Lemon Cheesecake has been a favorite for years. It’s easy to make and cools you off with every bite. Lemon Marshmallow Poke Cake is another easy summery dessert bursting with lemon goodness.
When I can’t decide what to bring to a summer potluck, I always fall back on a classic: Lemon Bars. The soft lemon center and buttery crust make me happy every time I eat them.
Even more lemon recipes to love, from the sweet to the savory:

The search is over for the BEST copycat Chick-fil-A Frosted Lemonade!
Save this recipe and you will never have to be without the lemon shake you crave when you want to beat the heat. Even on Sundays!
