Award-winning distillery Casa Maestri creates high quality, premium tequilas under the careful watch of owner Celia V. Maestri, making a powerful statement as a woman-owned spirits company in a world mostly dominated by men and large conglomerates.

Maestri, by contrast, upholds the legacy of family ownership and tequila making traditions passed down for centuries in families just like hers. Started as a boutique family distillery in 1952 by Jose and Celia Villanueva, Casa Maestri has achieved new heights under their daughter Celia’s leadership. From an early age, Maestri had a front seat to her parents’ dedication to quality and this inspired her to take the business to the next level, doubling its sales and launching her own United States importer in Houston at the age of 28.

Since its founding, Casa Maestri’s walls have been home to many successful tequila brands but the one closest to the family’s hearts is Casa Maestri Reserva de MFM Tequila. These tequilas are crafted according to ancient methods combined with modern technology to ensure a premium spirit. The finest blue agave plants are carefully selected at peak ripeness at 6 to 8 years, then slow cooked to extract the rich sugars needed for fermentation. After fermentation, the tequila is distilled and aged in oak barrels to develop its signature complex flavors and smooth finish. The resulting spirit offers a rich, nuanced taste profile.

Designed by Celia Maestri and artist Oscar Reynoso Becerra from Guadalajara, the Casa Maestri Reserva de MFM ceramic bottles are instantly recognizable and make for great showpieces behind any bar. Reynoso Becerra is a renowned artisan for his craftsmanship and experience working with high-end ceramic pieces. While the tequilas have garnered many awards including at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and International Wine & Spirit Competition, the team is most excited about the multiple Superior Taste Awards received from the prestigious International Taste Institute in Brussels, Belgium. Overseen by a panel of more than 200 world-renowned chefs and sommeliers, this rigorous controlled tasting recognizes the finest foods and beverages from around the world.

As the once traditional world of tequila transforms with large brands expanding and celebrity backed ventures launching, Celia Maestri is proud to uphold the deepest convictions of her heritage and educate people about the culture of tequila.
