Top 10 whisky stocking fillers for Christmas

Only four days to go until the big day, unless you’re reading this tomorrow in which case there’s only three days to go and it might be a good idea to panic. If like me you’ve left everything to the last minute, here are some brilliant ideas for stocking fillers for the whisky lover, gin nut, or cocktail enthusiast in your family. All you need is one of the below, a clementine, some brazil nuts and chocolate gold, and you’re all set to play Santa this Christmas. That’s assuming you have a stocking. You could just use a very large sock, it’s the contents that count.

Anyway, here are 10 great stocking fillers which also double as proper last minute presents for Christmas Day.

Merry Christmas!

1 – Whisky Jigsaw

It’s a map of the whisky-producing regions of Scotland in jigsaw form. So when you are starting to go insane from too much television and mince pies, then switch it off, clear some space and enjoy the meditative experience of doing a puzzle. With 1,000 pieces, you’ll probably need a dram in hand to assist you.

2 – Christmas Snow Globe gin liqueur

You really can’t get more Christmassy than this: the snow globe-inspired bottle is adorned with festive scenery, and the liqueur itself boasts the flavours of orange, cranberry, and winter spices, to add to that Christmas feeling. The bottle also lights up and includes flakes of edible 23kt gold leaf!

3 – Urban Bar Calabrese Bullet Shaker

This was developed in collaboration with bartending legend Salvatore Calabrese. Made from premium 0.9mm 18/8 Japanese steel (for maximum corrosion resistance), it incorporates an inbuilt spring mechanism that acts as a whisk to provide an efficient solution to emulsify egg white-based cocktails. Fancy!

4 – Nick & Nora glass

Much much cooler than a normal cocktail glass, it’s the Nick & Nora. The glass gets its name from Nick and Nora Charles, a husband and wife detective team who appear in the novel, The Thin Man, by Dashiel Hammet. The couple are played by William Powell and Myrna Loy in a series of films in which lavish quantities of cocktails are consumed out of the eponymous glass. So now you know.

5 – Glenfarclas 15 Year Old Gift Set

The Glenfarclas Distillery in Speyside has put together a cracking gift set for lovers of fine single malt whisky. It contains a 70cl bottle of a brilliant Glenfarclas 15 Year Old, alongside a 50ml miniature of the Glenfarclas 25 Year Old and Glenfarclas 105. If I were you, I’d keep the large bottle, you’ve earned it, and then use the miniatures as stocking fillers. Almost too clever.

6 – Speyside Whisky tasting set

You’ll often find generous helpings of honey and malt character in Speyside whiskies, while some distilleries are also well known for producing rich, robust, heavily sherried offerings. This set includes five 30ml waxed samples of some of the best whiskies you’ll find in Speyside, packaged up in a smart box and sleeve, meaning it’ll make a super gift for a whisky fan! You can explore our other tasting sets too.

7 – Urban Bar Seal Bottle Opener

We could talk about how this bottle opener was made with premium Japanese steel or how there’s a recess underneath the body for removing standard-size screw caps. But we all know you’re already sold. It’s shaped like a seal. It certainly gets our seal of approval. I’ll get me coat.

8 – Talisker 10 Year Old 5cl with Mug

Who doesn’t love Talisker 10 Year Old? It’s probably my favourite single malt so I would love to have this in my stocking. This  charming little gift set includes a 50ml miniature of Talisker 10 Year Old single malt, accompanied by a rugged outdoorsy branded mug – perfect for making hot toddies in and the later keeping your shaving kit in.
