Enter our Burns Night Poetry Competition 2024

Are you a poet? Do you know it? Our beloved Burns Night Poetry Competition 2024 is back for another year! In honour of Scotland’s national poet, we’re encouraging you to pick up your finest quill (or biro) for the chance to win fame and glory. Oh, and some exceptional whisky.

Enter our Burns Night Poetry Competition 2024

The most important rules for our judges are:

A maximum of 25 lines
Inspired by whisky
As always, no rhyming of whisky and frisky. You’re not being original or subversive by doing this regardless.

Each entry must be written in either English or Scots. No epics, we’re asking once again you stick to 25 lines or less, but other than that you can let your pen run free. Multiple entries (with a different poem each time obviously) are permitted – encouraged, even!

A bottle of Talisker 25 Year Old is waiting for the winner!

Five winners, five prizes

One winner and four runners-up will be selected by our judges, who have been doing this for a good few years now. They know a poem when they see one.

The prizes are as follows:

Winner: Talisker 25 Year Old

Runner-up 1: Dalmore King Alexander III

Runner-up 2: Deanston 21 Year Old 2000 Organic

Runner-up 3: Aberlour A’Bunadh Alba

Runner-up 4: Wolfie’s Blended Scotch Whisky – First Release (Signed by Sir Rod Stewart)

How to enter

You can enter using our dedicated entry page, or by posting a comment comprising your poem in the comment section on our social media post on MoM’s Instagram or Facebook page. Or, seeing as you’re already here, you can also post it in the comment section of this very blog (if you’re feeling brave enough to let everyone else read your entry).

That’s it! Best of luck, and Slange Var!
