What I’m Drinking Now: DeAndre Jackson and the Moonwalking in Calabasas

DeAndre Jackson is director of beverage at Humble Baron — the world’s longest bar — in Shelbyville, TN.

The Moonwalking in Calabasas cocktail is twist on the classic Whiskey Sour. The key to an excellent Whiskey Sour? Getting the balance just right.

This whiskey sour recipe has all the right proportions of bright, bracing lemon oleo and rhubarb bitters; warming Uncle Nearest 1856 whiskey; sweet Averna Amaro and fluffy whipped egg white to deliver a refreshing cocktail with a rich, smoother texture.

The Moonwalking in Calabasas cocktail has a special place in my heart, having created the riff for the annual Uncle Nearest Honor Your Legacy cocktail competition, which I won in 2021. This led me to my role at Humble Baron, located at the Uncle Nearest distillery in Tennessee.
