A Hot Dog Cocktail in Brooklyn

LilliStar, the rooftop bar atop Brooklyn’s Moxy Williamsburg, is taking the savory drink trend into summer with its Hot Doggin’ It cocktail. Created by Christine Wiseman, global beverage director for Bar Lab Hospitality and North America’s 50 Best Bars Bartenders’ Bartender 2023, the beefy beverage evokes the nostalgic flavors of an American classic.

How does one capture the flavors of a frankfurter in a cocktail? Wiseman combines Del Maguey Vida mezcal, Lustau white vermouth, tomato water and house-made Dijon mustard seed agave. A hot dog gummy garnish completes the presentation.

If guests get a hankering for a real hot dog while they’re enjoying the liquid version, the bar also offers one on the food menu, complete with a potato bun, harissa aioli and red cabbage.

Below, the recipe for the Hot Doggin’ It, and for another take on hot dog-themed cocktails, check out the Chicago Hot Dog Martini from the city’s Bloom Plant Based Kitchen.
