An Anniversary Toast: A Signature Cocktail

Welcome to Our Anniversary Sale

Hey, friends– It’s our anniversary! Which means we have a chance to celebrate with the people who made it all possible: you! This year marks 13 years since Chris and Julia first launched our YouTube channel, and 10 years since they started making premium barware.

That’s a whole decade of shaking, stirring, testing, and refining. And obviously none of it could be possible without a community that cares just as much about great cocktails as we do. So rather than just marking the occasion quietly, we’re doing what we do best: throwing a big sale that celebrates you and your bar.

Making the Most of the Sale

If you’ve ever been halfway through a recipe and realized you’re missing a key tool, you already know how much smoother things go when your bar’s properly set up. This sale is a great opportunity to fill those gaps… or finally upgrade the pieces you’ve been making do without.

And if you want a little more direction, here are a few ways we think about building a bar:

The Essential Bar

Been working with mismatched gear? This is everything you need to make both shaken and stirred cocktails the right way:

Cobbler shaker
Japanese jigger
4-prong strainer
Bar spoon

The Hosting Bar

Once you’ve got the basics down, these are the tools that make your setup feel polished and make hosting a lot easier:

Hawthorne strainer
Muddler
Bar mat
Citrus juicer
Pour spouts
Mixing glass

The Garnish Pro

Garnishes aren’t just decoration. They add aroma, flavor, and that final detail that elevates a drink. These tools help you dial that in:

Cocktail picks
Channel knife
Citrus peeler
Bitters bottles
Atomizer
Citrus zester
Cocktail straws
Drinking glasses

With the tiered discounts, it’s worth making a plan, whether that means rounding out your essentials or building toward a more complete setup with speciality gear. (And with free shipping over $98, it kinda helps justify filling up your cart.)

A Little History Behind the Celebration

It’s pretty wild to think about how this all started. One YouTube video in 2013 turned into a whole library of cocktail education… and eventually into a full line of barware! Chris and Julia started with our flagship product, the Boston shaker, in 2016. Since then, we’ve added a variety of high-quality bar tools designed to outlast and outperform our competitors.

On a personal note, I came onboard as A Bar Above’s first fulltime employee in January 2020, and we’ve grown so much since then. At the time, we catered mostly to bars and restaurants, but that shifted very quickly when the pandemic hit.

I remember early conversations with the team about what tools home bartenders actually needed and what the pain points we saw in other products on the market. And we’re still having those conversations. That philosophy continues to drive everything we make today: practical, durable, and built to improve your experience behind the bar, whether at home or as a professional.

Raising the Bar: Our Anniversary Toast

If you ask us, the best way to celebrate an anniversary like this is simple: Make a really great drink. So we’ve created a signature anniversary riff on a Daiquiri, perfect for all the summer gatherings you’ll be hosting with your new bar tools.

Course Drinks

Ingredients

Cocktail Ingredients

2 ounces Lightly Aged Rum3/4 ounce Fresh Lime Juice1/2 ounce Toasted Coconut Syrup1/4 ounce Dry Curaçao1 Orange Peel and/or Coconut Flakes for garnish

Toasted Coconut Syrup Ingredients

1 cup Coconut Flakes1 cup Water1 cup Granulated Sugar

Instructions

Cocktail Directions

Measure all ingredients and pour into your cocktail shaker.
Shake for 15 seconds.
Double strain into a chilled coupe glass.

Coconut Syrup Directions

Toast the coconut in a dry pan over medium heat until golden and fragrant (watch closely– It crisps up quickly). Set a pinch aside for the garnish.
In a saucepan, combine sugar and water, heating until dissolved.
Add toasted coconut, stir, and remove from heat.
Let steep for about 20–30 minutes, and fine strain out the coconut solids.
Allow the syrup to cool completely before using.
Store the remainder in an airtight container (like a Mason jar) for up to 2 weeks in the fridge. Tip: You’ll see separation from being kept cold, so just give the jar a good shake before using the syrup.

Whether you’re making our signature cocktail, revisiting a classic cocktail you love, or trying something new from our YouTube channel or blog, it’s a reminder of why we started all of this in the first place.

Good tools help, and we’re always excited to give you this opportunity to build out your own bar. But it really comes down to the experience you create with them, so make sure to also check out the hundreds of free recipes we offer on our site and social media platforms.

On that note, here’s to thirteen years of education, ten years of barware, and countless cocktails made better at home. This sale is our way of saying thanks for being part of that journey, whether you’ve been here since the beginning or are just getting started.

Here’s to the next chapter– and to continuing to raise the bar together. Cheers, and happy shopping!
