Sagamore Expands Portfolio With High Rye Bourbon

Sagamore has announced High Rye Straight Bourbon Whiskey, which releases nationwide on July 1.

The suggested retail price is $50 per 750-ml. bottle.

This joins the company’s Reserve Series, and marks Sagamore’s expansion beyond rye whiskey while maintaining a focus on Maryland-style whiskey production.

The Maryland-made bourbon carries a mash bill of 60% corn, 25% rye and 15% malted rye. Sagamore ages the whiskey for six years in new charred American white oak barrels before bottling it at 54% ABV.

The company said it developed the bourbon to recognize Kentucky’s bourbon heritage while continuing Maryland-style whiskey traditions.

According to Sagamore, the whiskey opens with aromas of dark brown sugar, grilled peaches and mixed berries. The palate includes spiced vanilla, hazelnut toffee, dried fruit and orange peel. The finish is caramel, toasted nuts and baking spices.

The new expression will be available at retailers nationwide beginning July 1.
