Brugal has released Colección Visionaria Edición 03, Coconut, the final limited-edition release in its three-part Colección Visionaria series. The Dominican rum has a suggested retail price of $69.99 and will be available at select retailers nationwide.
Fifth-generation Maestra Ronera Jassil Villanueva Quintana developed the release as an exploration of ingredients connected to the Dominican Republic. For Edición 03, Brugal uses Dominican coconuts in combination with French oak casks as part of its Aromatic Cask Toasting technique.
“Colección Visionaria was born from a desire to capture the beauty of my home, through 100% Dominican ingredients,” says Jassil Villanueva Quintana. “For this final addition, I chose coconut because it is the rhythm of our island — from the shade of the palms to the ritual of coconut water shared among friends. In Colección Visionaria Edición 03, we have captured that warmth, creating a rum that is as much a tribute to our future as it is to our heritage.”
The rum has a 45% ABV. Brugal describes the product as having a bright amber-gold color with aromas of vanilla, burnt sugar, lemon, coconut water, toasted notes and wood spice.
On the palate, the rum combines orange peel, coconut water, vanilla and caramel with woody and smoky notes. The finish includes spice, toasted oak, toffee and almond, according to the producer.
Brugal uses its Aromatic Cask Toasting technique across the Colección Visionaria series. The company says the process involves toasting French oak casks before using them to develop the rum’s flavor profile.
Brugal will produce six batches of Edición 03 for worldwide distribution, with fewer than 35,000 bottles available. Each bottle features the collection’s navy-blue protective netting and includes a hand-applied seal, Villanueva Quintana’s signature and a batch number on the label.
