Maison Telmont has introduced Réserve Rosé Base 2020, a Brut Nature Champagne made with no sugar added at disgorgement.
The rosé combines 88% chardonnay and 12% meunier, with grapes sourced from several Champagne terroirs. The blend includes fruit from Songy, where chalk soils contribute mineral character, Damery, where marl and chalk soils contribute fruit expression and Avize, a Chardonnay-producing area with chalk soils.
Maison Telmont said the decision to produce the wine as a Brut Nature required ripe grapes and precision throughout viticulture and winemaking. The absence of dosage allows the wine to express the characteristics of the grapes and sites, according to the company.
Réserve Rosé Base 2020 shows citrus fruit, red berries and gingerbread aromas, according to its producer, followed by blood orange and citrus flavors. The finish includes saline notes and freshness.
The Champagne can pair with seafood dishes including seared scallop carpaccio, langoustine and shrimp risotto.
The wine comes in a green bottle made with recycled glass. Maison Telmont said the packaging supports its “In the Name of Mother Nature” environmental initiative, which began in 2021. The company has also said it aims to reach Net Zero by 2050 and has moved away from transparent bottles, which contain no recycled glass, in favor of green bottles made with recycled glass.
“Réserve Rosé Base 2020 is a wine that lets nature speak with remarkable purity,” said Brice Bezin, Cellar Master of Maison Telmont. “Its blend of several meticulously selected harvests gives it freshness, depth and aromatic complexity, while its zero dosage reveals the true character of our terroirs. The purest expression of Champagne is often the one where nature has the last word!”
“With no dosage, a majority of Chardonnay, long ageing and now a green bottle, this new edition of Réserve Rosé expresses both the purity of our terroir and our commitment to reducing our environmental impact,” added Justin Meade, General Manager of Maison Telmont.
Réserve Rosé has a suggested retail price of $94.50 per 750-ml. bottle.
