Bardstown Bourbon Announces Two Fall Limited Releases
Bardstown Bourbon Company has released two limited-edition whiskeys this month, with the new Lochs of Jura Barrel Finish Whiskey and 2026 Discovery exploring cask finishing and blending.
Both releases feature commissioned artwork by Louisville artist Margaret Archambault. Archambault created the artwork after tasting each whiskey and translated its aroma, flavor and texture into visual pieces that appear on the bottles and packaging, according to the company.
The releases also introduce changes to the packaging and naming of the two series. The Finishing Series expands the brand’s limited-edition collaborations, while the Discovery Series moves from numbered releases to annual releases.
“These releases started from two different questions,” said Dan Callaway, Master Blender, Lofted Spirits. “Discovery asked how far we could take an already exceptional blend. Lochs of Jura asked what unique character these remarkable casks could contribute over time. Both led us somewhere unexpected, and that’s where the exciting whiskey discoveries happen.”
Lochs of Jura Barrel Finish
Lochs of Jura Barrel Finish starts with a blend of straight bourbon and rye. Bardstown Bourbon Company then finished the whiskey for 32 months in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks sourced from Scotland’s Isle of Jura.
The casks previously held single malt Scotch whisky and contribute fruit, malt, smoke and maritime notes to the whiskey, according to the company.
“At Bardstown Bourbon, we are relentless in pursuit of flavor and no whiskey typifies this like the Isle of Jura,” said Callaway. “With just 238 residents, Jura is not just remote – its location offers a unique fingerprint of flavor singular to these barrels.”
The 59-gallon sherry casks did not fit in the warehouse ricks, so the company stored them in warehouse aisles during the 32-month finishing period.
This whiskey comes at 104 proof.
2026 Discovery
The 2026 Discovery release combines 7, 10 and 11-year-old bourbons. Bardstown Bourbon Company selected the barrels for their balance of fruit and oak before finishing the blend for four months in Garryana oak barrels, according to the company.
Garryana oak, also known as Oregon white oak, grows in the Pacific Northwest. The wood’s dense grain slows oxidation and evaporation and can contribute flavors including clove and nutmeg.
The release marks Bardstown Bourbon Company’s second whiskey to use Garryana oak following the Distillery Reserve Cascadia, which the company released earlier this year.
At 112.8 proof and 56.4% alcohol by volume, 2026 Discovery includes aromas and flavors of toasted oak, burnt sugar, baked apple, dried cherry and cinnamon notes, according to the company.
Both 2026 Discovery and Lochs of Jura Barrel Finish are both available nationwide now in limited quantities. Each 750-ml. bottle carries a suggested retail price of $139.99.
