Laphroaig 2024 Càirdeas Cask

Laphroaig has announced the launch of Càirdeas 2024 Cask Favourites Single Malt Scotch Whisky, continuing the Islay distillery’s annual series.

Every year, Laphroaig releases a new expression in this line, meant as a thanks for their fans. Cairdeas means “friendship” in Gaelic.

This 10-year-old Càirdeas edition was created by master blender Calum Fraser. It’s meant to pay homage to Laphroaig’s previous releases: 2019’s Triple Wood and 2021’s PX Cask.

Matured in ex-bourbon barrels, this single malt combines the peaty flavor of Laphroaig with flavors of freshly ground ginger and charred citrus fruits, the company reports. The palate also contains notes of caramelized sugar, hazelnut and honey sweetness, before a finish of tannic oak paired with earthy peat and subtle sea salt.

The spirit is matured twice — first in over-charred first and second-fill ex-bourbon barrels and quarter casks before being finished in PX casks, adding fruity sweetness.

Laphroaig Càirdeas 2024 Cask Favourites comes bottled at 52.4% ABV. The suggested retail price is $109.99 per 700-ml. bottle.
