February 4th Newsletter

Have you heard?? I can’t even believe I’m saying this yet again… We. Are. Moving. If you’ve been following me for a while, you’re probably aware of how many times Kurt and I have changed homes and locations over the course of our 33 ½ years of marriage. 18. Now we’re on to 19. 19! Do I hear 19??!!! Yes. And when we moved into this apartment, I VERY adamantly said I was “ONLY GOING TO DO THIS ONE. MORE. TIME. HA! Never say never, right??? We are moving back into the first apartment we had when we returned to Rhode Island in April of 2019. Since they’re raising our rent a few hundred dollars, coupled with the fact that I’m not fully convinced our mice won’t be back, we decided it would be best to downsize and move back into the one bedroom apartment. The housing market in Rhode Island is the absolute worst, so we definitely don’t want to go there just yet. It’s not that we can’t afford to buy a home yet, we just don’t want to pay an exorbitant price for one. We’ll get there. Mark my words.

Favorite Product of the Week

Since we’re moving, I’ve been looking for great ways to pack and organize. I was gifted one of these blue IKEA zippered storage bags, and absolutely fell in love with it. I purchased a set of 4 more the other day and have put our linens, and pillows into them. I’ll also just roll up the clothes that are on hangers and put them into one of them as well. They can hold up to 55 lbs., are sturdy, and even have handles. AND they’re half off right now, too!

(To get to the IKEA Frakta Storage Bag – 4 pack, click the link above. It will take you to the blog and then scroll down to this Favorite Product section where you’ll find the affiliate link to the item as I’m not permitted to share Amazon links here in my newsletter. I may earn a small commission from products purchased when you shop through my Amazon links at no additional cost to you. Thanks!)

Tip of the Week

Hate it when you bake chewy cookies only to store them and have them harden the next day? Place a piece of fresh white bread in the container with them! The cookies will begin to absorb the moisture from the bread, and the bread will harden. Once it does, replace it with another piece. That is, if you still have any cookies left.

I’d love to hear any tips you have, and what has helped you be more efficient and organized in the kitchen! If you would be interested in sharing them with all of us, and if I choose to share them in our newsletter, I’ll give you a first-name shoutout!
